Your site has been a blessing to my research. I am researching the following names: Riddiford, Lanfear, Landfear, Lanfer, Limbrick, Limerick,Landfair, Limrick, Tyndale, Smith, Rowles, Sargent, and Sargeant. My Great grabdmother Alice Louise Riddiford was the daughter of Louisa Lanfear and William Riddiford. I have traced her mothers line a bit but haven't gotton very far with her fathers Riddiford line. William was the son of William Riddiford and Elizabeth Tyndale. I have come up with dead ends on the Smith line. Anyone else researching these lnes? Any help would be wonderful.

I have a brick wall, and I hope SCS will have the answer I need.
Hannah Newman,Born 1749 at Thornbury, had a Son,Aaron, born in 1770 at Thornbury. My question, is this the Hannah that married Joseph Sherman in March 1775?.It appears that Aaron was born out of wedlock,as no record can be found of his mothers marriage prior to his birth. This site is one of the best I have found in over six years of research, please keep up the good work

Such a useful site - thank you! I'm trying to unravel my link to the Limbrick family. My 3xG Grandmother was Unity Limbrick (1823-1885). She married John Evans (b 1829 Wapley). I think Unity's parents were William and Elizabeth (nee Millard), but I can't be 100% certain. Would be nice to hear from anyone else researching in the same area. Thanks.

Hello, Yesterday we had visitors from your congregation here at St Mary the Virgin Church in Colton, Staffs. We were bell ringing and they told us that you have only one bell at St Oswalds and the story of how the remaing 3? were lost in the River Severn whilst being transported for repair/tuning work in the 18th Century. As bell ringers we were intrigued by this story and wondered if you could enlarge on it. Thanks Ken Rider

Correction to my last query. Having looked at the original register I see that the reference to Mary Bainham (as transcribed) should have been to Mary TROTMAN of BAINHAM farm, so her illegitimate son Moses WORKMAN Trotman was probably fathered by a Workman. Does anyone know where Bainham Farm was? I see from an 1810 letter that the Bainham estate was claimed by Lady Berkeley who "bears the character of a tyrant", so probably succeded!

Freya have you tried "The TROTMAN Family 1086 - 1963" by Francis Trotman at Gloucestershire Archives? Also many entries in their "Gloucestershire Notes and Queries" vol V?
I am looking for background to Moses Workman (Wakeman?) Trotman born Berkeley 1807 illegitimate son of Ann Bainham. If I can discount bullrushes, how is he linked to the Trotman tribe?

This a fantastic site. I wish all parishes had the same facilities. Thank you to those who have done the hard work.

It would be wonderful to make connections with ny Baker, Millard or Holloway families or their descendents.

Thank you for such an easy to access site. What a find! I am researching the Trotman family. if anyone can help me with info on Thomas Trotman (Tratman) of Berkeley born abt 1598, to George and Agnes Trotman. in 1618 he was under 21 according to his fathers will and over seas on a merchant voyage. I know he married in about 1631, in berkeley, and his wife was born about 1604, but I have no name for her. Does anyone else know. i have a fairly compendious list of other family members going back to about 1300 so if anyone else is researching and I can help, please email and I will help if possible. thanks again for the site, it filled in some gaps very nicely.

Although slightly outside your area, I notice there are references to the surname Canning in this area. My Canning ancestors come from Bristol, but I am trying to identify links to JOHN CANNING who was christened on 15 August 1784 at Frampton-on-Severn, the son of John Canning & Anne Hewlett.
